I don't see how it's hard to understand. There is zero specialisation for a producer in the T1 sector. Complete Specialisation can be achieved during the trial period. Sure, T2 is different but that's a totally different market and entry point.
No, there isn't. There are different areas to each specialty. Production, Trade, Supply. Each of those areas affect the quality of the chosen profession. Supply can be improved via hauling skills, good contracts and the likes. Trade skills affect sales of end products. T1 Production (cost savings wise) is governed by only 2 things in this game. Production Efficiency skill and production implants.
Keep it there, I don't mind, but allow additional options to specialise in production fields that AREN'T restricted only to T2 and Capital ships/modules. Those who take the time and effort to SPECIALISE in their chosen fields deserve to be ranked at least a little above those who trained all the necessary skills on their trial account.
This! Speaking as someone who is about 3 months into a manufacturing career I find it frustrating that a three week old character can build a battleship just as well as I can. It should be rewarding for those who specialise in manufacturing, whether this be making it more efficient, or by dividing the ships into sections so you must train before you can build larger ships such as battleships. Not talking about years of specialisation, just a couple of months, a few million skillpoints to get you rolling and more for those who want to go the extra mile.
Combat & science are all heavily specialised, you cannot be perfect at it in three weeks, which is how it stands at the moment in manufacturing. Show those who are really into it some love!!
And for those that say their pvp characters should be allowed to manufacture well for on-the-side isk, fair enough but you shouldn't be just as good as my specialised manufacturer. What would you say if manufacturers could produce a three week old character that is just as good as your year old one?
